The sculpture park at Wharepuke features art works along a 1km trail trough the award winning Wharepuke Subtropical Garden. There are usually around 40 sculptures to view. The sculptures are regularly changed around so there’s always something new for you to see.
The sculpture park and subtropical garden share the same trail so the exotic plants in the garden and the art works on the sculpture park trail complement each other.
We have work in the sculpture park from all over the world. Most are made by New Zealand artists but there are also artists from the UK, Sweden, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands and South Korea.
Artists can propose their work for inclusion in the sculpture park at any time or they can apply for a sculpture residency at Wharepuke.
We also have a funded residency supported by the Kerikeri Dalton Trust. This allows an artist to come to Wharepuke for 4 weeks to make a permanent work for the sculpture park. The Dalton Trust provides an artist’s fee and Wharepuke provides accommodation. The residency is open to New Zealand and international artists.
